8/16 My horse Ewieka successfully competed on the first day of a recent horse show. I became concerned with swelling on her left front leg. Our vet was in attendance at the show and we scheduled an ultrasound which confirmed a possible injury to the inferior check ligament. We went home to a week of ice and hand walking to reduce swelling in preparation for a second ultrasound. 8/22 Check up revealed a 30% lesion on the ICL with edema and broken fibers. We discussed possible treatments from surgery to stem cells drawn from her sternum. I decided to give it time, with Ice boots, a little Surpass (anti inflammatory cream) and a secret little patch or two. (X39, Aeon, Aculife) 8/30 check up revealed no red flags, mild sensitivity to palpitation. We got the go ahead to tack walk and turn out again! 9/19 check up ultrasound reveals no sign of injury. Vet said, “if I didn’t know she was already injured, I wouldn’t know she was injured.” Continue turn out, walking more, add trot and we will recheck again in October! Starting on 8/22 I placed x39 and Aeon directly on the injury sight every night. Aculife during the day. I will continue through to the next check up in 30 days. Terri Robidas
